Last Will & Testament of

John Edwards the younger - 1823

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Edwards of Shouldham Thorpe in the County of Norfolk Farmer made the twenty fourth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty in manner following (that is to say) First I give devise unto my lovely wife Anna Maria Edwards all those messuages lands tenements hereditaments and premises with the appurtenances of which I am now possessed in fee simple or other wise situate lying and being in the parishes of Shouldham Thorpe aforesaid and South Runcton in the said County To hold the same and every part thereof with her my said wife Anna Maria Edwards for and during the term of her natural life, And from and after her decease I give devise and bequeath the same messuages lands tenements hereditaments and premises with the appurtenances unto Sophia the wife of John Bird of Shouldham in the County aforesaid Farmer formerly Sophia Edwards spinster To hold the same and every part thereof unto her the said Sophia Bird her heirs and assigns forever Item I also give and devise and bequeath unto my said wife Anna Maria Edwards all my ready money which I may have by me at the time of my decease, as also such part of my household furniture as she may make choice of to and for her own use and disposal, Item as to all and every the remainder of my household furniture goods chattels stock crop personal estate and effects of what nature or kind soever the same may consist which I may be possessed of at the time of my decease I give and devise and bequeath the same unto my son in law John Bird to and for his own use and disposal the paying thereunto all my just debts funeral expenses and the charges for proving this my will And lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife Anna Maria Edwards and the said John Bird Executors and Executor of this my will and I do hereby revoke and make void all former and other wills by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this only to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I the said John Edwards the testator have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year I have written

Proved by John Bird the executor within named the 6th day of February 1823 before the Revd. William Maxey Allen Clk Surre to the Worshipful Thomas Hay D.D. Comissy. Power reserved to Anna Maria Edwards the executor to act when.
