SEVENTH GENERATION

Thomas HINTON.

He was christened in Middle Claydon on the 28 Dec 1755. He married to Betty STANLEY on 20 Jun 1779 in Quainton, Bucks. He was buried in Quainton on the 17 Aug 1814. In the burial register his age was given as 57, i.e. born ca. 1757.

From his age in the Qainton Parish Register he is a near age match to the Thomas Hinton, christened 28 Dec 1755 in Middle Claydon the son of John & Mary. Given the late date of christening in the year 1755, this makes his age only one year difference between this christening and the burial age. Circumstantial evidence linking Thomas to Middle Claydon is the use of the name Ruth in the family. The name Ruth Hinton is rare in Buckinghamshire, there being only three instances in the parish registers, a Ruth Hinton christened in 1730 in Middle Claydon and a sister to John christened in 1727, then John's daughter Ruth in 1758 a sister to Thomas of 1755, and finally Thomas's daughter Ruth in 1793 in Quainton. Thomas's sister Ruth was also living in Quainton when she married in 1796, possibly she was living with her brother Thomas as both their parent's had died by then. It would appear Thomas continued the name of Ruth from the two previous generations when naming his first daughter. Thus the link back to the Middle Claydon families.

Betty STANLEY was christened on 11 October 1757 in Hoggeston, Buckinghamshire. She was buried on 10 Oct 1819 in Quainton.

child i. Mary HINTON was christened on 15 Jun 1783 in Quainton, Bucks.
